HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?

We would like to show you as simply as possible, the process for you to receive a custom printed fabric from Karma Kraft. Please read through the Step by Step instructions below to become familiar with the process.

Get Started

  • From the Homepage, click on

  • Step 1

  • From here you have two choices, either navigate to the "Easy Order Now" side of the page to upload your image from your computer which takes you one step closer to ordering your custom fabric or navigate to the "Create Your Profile" side of the page which allows you to become a Karma Krafter and take advantage of showing your designs in our Fab Favs section of the website. Fab Favs is only for members who have signed up. You do not have to sign up to order. To upload your design click "browse" and choose the image you want to upload from your computer and then click "attach". Your design will then upload and the Step 2 page will load.
  • If you choose to upload your design here are a few options on how to get your image or idea to us. Let's say you have a drawing or small sample of a pattern that you want to print but you do not have the computer skills to prepare your design for printing. You can take a picture or scan the image and we can use that. Save the picture or scan to your computer and attach it in Step 1. If you send your file this way we will need to edit it for you to prepare it for printing (color seperation) and the edting charge is $10.00/color. If you have already edited your design there is not a design charge, just please be sure the Dots Per Inch (dpi) is 150 or greater.

  • Step 2

  • The Step 2 page is the page that tells Karma Kraft all of the information you are assigning to your design, such as the repeat, the type of fabric you want us to print on, your desired colors and the amount you would like us to print. Inside the Step 2 page there are explainations for each detail to help you through. We also have the cut and sew option on this page, so you may choose to have us make your product for you. Simply follow the instructions on this page and click on "Review Order" to proceed to Step 3.

  • Step 3

  • The last step is to review your order and confirm all of the information you entered in Step 2 is correct. If all the information is correct simply click the "Purchase" button to complete your order. Karma Kraft is a Secure Web site so all of your information is protected. That's it. After your order is placed you will received an e-mail from us confirming we have your order and then we put the wheels in motion. See what happens to your design next below.

  • WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We know that your fabric is very special to you and we feel the same way. We would like to explain what the process is for developing your fabric. Karma Kraft uses reactive and disperse dyes as opposed to pigments. We feel the reactive and disperse dyes that we use have a much deeper and richer color than the pigments dyes. With pigment dying there is a 2 step process, printing and then dry heat. With the reactive and disperse dying there is a 5 step process, pre-treatment of the fabric (sizing), printing, steaming, washing/softening and then drying. Yes this makes the process more time consuming for us but it is worth it. In the end, printing with reactive and disperse dyes as opposed to textile pigments we believe, gives you a fabric more vivid in color, washable and softer in hand. For example, if you want to make a nice sheet set for bedding you would want to use a fabric that was printed in the reactive dye process which would make the sheets very soft and would be able to be washed again and again with no fading. That is why we allow 5-7 business days to take good care of your fabric. We hope you will appreciate the care your fabric is given and to learn more please see the details below. With a little extra time and care we don't just print a fabric, we print a fabric for life.

    Sizing

  • First your fabric is "sized" which is mainly a pre-treatment and flattening of your fabric in preparation for printing.

  • Printing

  • After sizing your design is printed on the fabric of your choice with high quality reactive or disperse dyes. The type of dye used depends on the fabric we are printing on. Reactive for the natural fibers, disperse for the manmade fibers. These dyes are of the highest quality and we feel they produce deeper and richer colors than textile pigments. This process takes some time but in the end you have a fabric with great color, hand and washability.

  • Steaming

  • Next up your fabric will receive a steam bath. Talk about a steam bath, wow this process is HOT! This allows the fibers in your fabric to expand and "take" the dyes. This process really sets the color into your fabric to acheive the deep rich color without fading and washing away.

  • Washing

  • After your fabric leaves the steam bath it is treated to a regular bath. Here your fabric will be washed and softend to create a wonderful drape and hand.

  • Drying

  • Last step, into the dryer it goes. No explaination necessary.
  • That's it. After drying we will ship you your fabric or if you have chosen for us to make a product we will go ahead and start the sewing process. The shipping time is on average about 1 week and if you are getting a product made we ask that you allow 2-3 weeks for that as well. This time may be shorter if there is not a line. We hope this explains our process but if you have any questions please feel free contact us anytime.
